WHAT DOES FTR DO?
Florida
Tire Recycling, Inc. is the leading provider of
environmental solutions for the tire industry. FTR is the
preeminent single source supplier of Closed Loop Scrap Tire
and waste Rubber Product Solutions – from post-industrial
and post-consumer scrap tire and rubber materials
collection, sorting, and separation, to shredding and size
classification and finally to the leading manufacturer of
highly engineered crumb rubber and rubber powders that are
produced from recycled materials and incorporated into
various industrial applications. The Company’s crumb rubber
(5 to 30 mesh) and rubber powders (30 to 40 mesh) are
created by recycling industrial waste rubber using
proprietary ambient and cryogenic technologies and are used
as feedstock for ultra-fine processing as well as a raw
material in a number of products from mats to rubberized
flooring and to asphalt sealants. FTR is the first and only
Company in the world that has totally integrated material
collection and technology to produce crumb rubber and rubber
powders cost effectively and at commercial volumes employing
its unique Closed Loop format.

HOW DOES
FTR’S PROCESS WORK?
FTR’s
operation is a unique, three-phase progression process. The
Company produces three different products that are extracted
at different points through the material flow. Each stage
of production reduces the size of material inputs (at the
front end whole tires), and performs some degree of
separation of material components (rubber, steel, fiber).
At each production phase, material can be diverted to
multiple downstream processing options, providing unlimited
flexibility among FTR’s finished product mix. This unique
ability allows FTR to manage its production output to
exactly match customer demand or margin opportunity at any given
time.

HOW MANY
SCRAP TIRES DOES FTR COLLECT AND RECYCLE?
FTR
collects and recycles over 6 million tires per year.
These tires are diverted from landfills and are
converted into crumb rubber powder to be reused and
recovered in beneficial use applications.

DOES FTR’S
BUSINESS GENERATE OTHER ECONOMIC BENEFITS?
Yes, in
addition to utilizing recycled scrap tire material, FTR’s
business generates other economic and environmental
benefits.
• By using FTR’s crumb
rubber powder at 90 percent loadings, mat companies can save
the equivalent of approximately 4 gallons of oil for every
mat produced.
• In
addition to reducing fossil fuel dependency, FTR’s recycled
crumb rubber powder protects the environment from the air
and water pollution associated with its use in athletic
fields and running tracks.
